Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about home care services, payment options, caregiver screening, and more.

1. What is the next step if I am interested in services?

Contact our office by phone or email. An Abundant Living representative can schedule a free meeting with you and your loved one to discuss needs, answer questions, and explain the care assessment process.

2. I have Medicaid insurance. Can I qualify for these services?

In many cases, eligible clients may receive services at no cost. Requirements may include being a Tennessee resident, meeting Medicaid financial requirements, meeting medical criteria for nursing facility care, being over 21, and having an identified caregiver or family member available. An Abundant Living representative can help you understand the process.

3. What if I currently receive services through HCBS or Choices and am not satisfied?

As a member of the Choices program, you have the right to change service providers. Contact your local Care Coordinator or Case Manager to start that process.

4. How do you screen caregivers for employment?

Abundant Living completes thorough background checks before employment. Screening includes interview sessions, felony and abuse registry reviews, out-of-state probation and parole checks, criminal and misdemeanor screenings, OIG fraud detection search, sex offender registry review, and driver's license and car insurance verification.

5. If I do not qualify for HCBS or Choices, what other options do I have?

Private pay may be available. Abundant Living representatives can help assess your needs and determine the type of care that fits your budget.

6. Do you provide transportation services?

Yes. Transportation service may be provided based on individualized needs. An Abundant Living representative can assess transportation needs during the care assessment process.

7. Can I choose the gender of my caregiver?

Yes. Clients have the right to request the gender of their caregiver.

8. Do I pay the caregiver directly?

No. Caregivers do not receive direct payment from clients. Abundant Living pays care professionals according to federal labor laws, including required legal tax deductions.

9. Who monitors the care provided to my loved one?

Care professionals are monitored monthly and as needed by the Quality Assurance Coordinator. Quality assurance helps ensure clients are served, supported, and receiving the highest possible care.

10. How can I refer someone who may need support?

Contact our office. A representative can help you understand the process and next steps. We welcome referrals from neighbors, church members, family friends, and community professionals.

11. What areas do you serve?

We serve Shelby County and surrounding Tennessee areas in the greater Memphis region.

12. How quickly can care begin?

After the initial consultation and care plan assessment, care can often begin within a few days depending on availability and caregiver matching.

13. Do you provide medical care?

No. Abundant Living provides non-medical home care only. We assist with daily living activities, companionship, and personal care but do not administer medications, provide wound care, or perform medical procedures.

14. Can services change as needs change?

Yes. Care plans are reviewed regularly and can be adjusted as a client's needs evolve over time.

15. What is included in a free consultation?

A free consultation includes a conversation about your loved one's daily routine, needs, preferences, and goals. We also complete an individualized care plan assessment to recommend the right services.
